David Gilmour‘s first wife, Ginger, has written an autobiography titled Memoirs of the Bright Side of the Moon, in which she shares stories about her years with the Pink Floyd guitarist. The 653-page tome, which is available now, is broken into 90 chapters and features 140 photos, including many previously unseen pics.
In the book, Ginger recalls crossing paths with such rock legends as George Harrison, Pete Townsend, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Joni Mitchell and Graham Nash, as well as spending a Christmas with Paul and Linda McCartney. An American-born artist and former model, Ginger first met Gilmour in 1971 and the couple went on to marry in July 1975, while Pink Floyd was recording its album Wish You Were Here. She eventually had four children with the guitar great.
Ginger describes her book as “the true story of my life and how I was challenged, survived, and resurrected like the fabled tale of the Phoenix rising out of the ashes on a journey with a band they call Pink Floyd and then beyond.”
According to a press statement about Memoirs of the Bright Side of the Moon, Ginger considers the tome her “personal way of thanking David and the Floyd for such a wonderful adventure-filled life.”
